It's time again for ACSD's summer Celebration.
October 9th at the Cuyamaca college water conservation garden. 6:00-9:00
There will be food from El Pescador, (there should be plenty of food at this event), 2 free drinks, a local area slide show, a silent auction, a raffle and more entertainment.
There is a pre-event cost of $50.00 per person. The funds that are raised are ALL used to attempt to keep our local climbing areas open. ACSD has been hard at work the last 3 years keeping our climbing areas open.
All of our founding members are volunteers, we do this to hopefully keep our areas open for future generations of climbers.
There is a group discount rate for groups of 8. Talk to you fellow meetup members, get a group together and save some money, but please think about joining us this night. It is a worthy cause.
Go to Alliedclimbers.org for more info, the group rate info and all else.

Thank you

Hey all,
Let's climb again Weds. nite starting at 5:30 (or whenever you can make it) till about 7:30/8ish.
Ask me about the special membership offer from Solid Rock for SDRC meetup members. $35.00 monthly, no initiation fee, good at any Solid Rock location.
Gym climbing makes you strong for outdoors, so come get a great workout, meetup with fellow climbers, and hatch your plans for your outdoor climbing trips.
Beginners welcome; look for me when you get there and I'll intro you to other members and, if you want, get you paired up with someone to climb with.
Trip afterwards to El Indio's for a brew and a bite for those so inclined! (3695 India St.)

Dixon Lake is a small climbing area located next to the Lake Dixon reservoir in the North San Diego County town of Escondido. Its short five minute approach makes it a popular spot for those who don't have all day to devote to climbing. The granite boulders hold mostly boulder and top rope climbs, but there are a few short leads. Gear may be required to set up some of the top rope problems. Climbing at Dixon consists of cracks and steep faces. There may be a small fee to enter this city park. You can park outside the gate and walk the short distance to the climbing area.

I will be at Dixon Lake Saturday morning for around 3 or 4 hours. Join me for some toproping fun!

To get there head north on I-15 to Escondido, exit El Norte east. Go about 3 miles until the road starts bending to the right and look for signs for Dixon Lake/Daley Ranch. Turn left on La Honda and go all the way up the hill to the Lake. After passing the toll booth, bear right and go about 1/4 mile to the parking lot on the left with a port-o-john. The cliff is across the street. Take the obvious trail and take the right fork to the base of the cliffs. It is a relatively small area and easy to find us. Bring a rope if you have one. questions? call me at 858 414-3126. I may also go mountain biking at Daley Ranch after climbing.

Happy monday - Hope you all had a good weekend of climbing.

Once again it's time for the ACSD monthly meeting at Callahans pub and brewery. If you have not been there, it is a very casual dining and drinking location. The meeting starts at 7:00, but many show up early to talk about their latest adventures in climbing.
This is a good time to get up to date beta on all the issues that our local climbing crags are faced with.
Come and get together with us.

Did I mention dining and drinking. Two of things that many of the local climbers seem to enjoy.

There is no cost (unless you drink and dine).

Hope to see you there.

Held annually each Fall from the end of October into early November, the Banff Mountain Film Festival has included the Radical Reels night, which is a special screening of the wildest high-adrenaline films entered in the Banff Mountain Film Festival. So many action films were being submitted to the film festival that they could not fit into the regular screenings, resulting in the creation of the hugely successful Radical Reels evening presentation.

It's that time of the week again..... MONDAY!! That means it is time to meetup with your favorite Belay Buddy and get a GREAT workout!!!!

You know, I read an article just the other week that said MONDAYS are the best day to starts (or REstart) your workouts. Why not? After all: IT'S MONDAY!!!! WOOOHOO!!!

Note, please: When you get to VH, please identify yourself as a "meetup" person. When newer members come, this will help the gym staff point people out. If you don't recognize someone immediate, please ask the front desk staff to point out the meetup group. They know most of us and are super friendly and nice. (If, for some reason, they are not, please let me know!!) It feels aweful to go and try climbing for the first or second time and not to able to find anyone. After all, that IS the purpose of meetup.

***I changed the start time to 5. If you can't get there until 6, see above note.

EDIT by the Master Beta (9-23-09): A friend of mine has generously offered the group site #5 in Sheep Pass Campground (2000' higher and 10+ degrees cooler than Indian Cove!) which he has reserved for Friday and Saturday nights. He has canceled his plans to head up this weekend, and his only stipulation for our use of this site is that we allow anyone from his original group who shows up to have priority on the site (shouldn't be an issue - the site can take up to 6 cars and 20 people).

I'll probably head up Friday night leaving San Diego around 7pm. Will probably head to Hall of Horrors to climb there on Sat, chasing the shade all day.

That's all for now... hope to see y'all there!

I am posting this for Danny boy, so any questions, please direct to him. :)

After the community service project at Mission Gorge this Saturday the climb-loving train is pulling out of San Diego and headed up to Joshua Tree. We should arrive around 3ish. We can climbing in Indian Cover for a few hours before it gets dark. All of the campgrounds are sold out, so we are staying in the climber's campground outside of the park.

Sunday we can wake bright n early and get on the rocks for a few hours. Strategic planning will be necessary to stay out of the sun. Current weather report predict 95* for this weekend. Danny is planning on leaving by 4 to drop of his shoes at Nomads.

If you are interested in joining us and want to carpool, please indicate that on your RSVP.

Thanks!

Hello all:

ACSD will be helping REI with volunteer work at Mission trails regional park on Sat. the 26th from 9:00-11:00.
We will be meeting at the Interpretive center.

I do not know what type of volunteer work will be in store for us, it could be clean up, tree planting, trail maintanance, mulching, or general beatification of the park. Whatever the park may have planned.
This is your opportunity to show your support for this area. Show the land managers that climbers are a good resource for their park activities. Shoe and tell them how much you enjoy their park.
This is important!

We lost what used to be a fun sport crag in a lower area of the park. We are working on getting access back to this area. This is an opportunity to show them that we can be good stewards for their park.

I believe lunch will be provided to volunteers.
REI has offered discount coupons at previous events(I am not sure if they will this time)
Bring sunscreen, alot of energy, and a happy face ;)

You can respond at meetup or RSVP to access@alliedclimbers.org.
Thank you
