Update: Come celebrate New Years at the three-day Joshua Tree Climbers Carnival. Mingle, enjoy live music, presentations by the sport's top athletes and peruse the industry's latest and greatest products. Want to learn to climb or step up your game? Don’t miss our clinics led by some of the country's top guides. Our clinics cover a wide variety of topics offering something for everyone. Don't miss our huge New Years Eve bash with local bands The Cactus Pricks and the Techno Hillbillies, Beer Garden hosted by the Joshua Tree Chamber of Commerce, dyno comp, Slacklining, vollyball and tons more. It all takes place in the lot behind Coyote Corner at 6591 Park Boulevard in Joshua Tree, CA. Festival admission is only $10 payable at the door and is good for the whole weekend. In addition to getting into the festival and being able to check out our sponsors booths you get access to three nights of live music, athlete presentations, slackline, volleyball, arm wrestling and dyno comp (food and drinks are not included in the entry fee). Stuck sitting at home on New Years Eve? Come on out to Joshua Tree and celebrate the new year with climbers and slackliners/highline rs! Megan and myself will be meeting up with some slackers from Northern Cali to help out with some slacklining demos and also to go walk some highlines at Cave Corridor! We will be staying from Thursday till Sunday but where exactly is still up in the air. There are some campgrounds around the area so feel free to check them out and hang out the weekend with us. Or just play it by ear kinda how we are... Oh and feel free to register for the clinics that will be going on! Stay tuned sports fans for a day to day schedule but until then keep on slacking and have a good one! Peace and Slackyness, Frankie and Megan

Hey all, Let's climb again Weds. nite starting at 5:30 (or whenever you can make it) till about 7:30/8ish. Ask me about the special membership offer from Solid Rock for SDRC meetup members. $35.00 monthly, no initiation fee, good at any Solid Rock location. Gym climbing makes you strong for outdoors, so come get a great workout, meetup with fellow climbers, and hatch your plans for your outdoor climbing trips. Beginners welcome; look for me when you get there and I'll intro you to other members and, if you want, get you paired up with someone to climb with. Trip afterwards to El Indio's for a brew and a bite for those so inclined! (3695 India St.) Bob Swift

OK here's the deal....The nights look like they'll be cold,...I'm collecting a pile of wood and you know I like big fire, fire hot..... but the days are supposed to be mild. If it stays as is, the adventure is on. If the temps drop, then so do I. What to bring: Big smiles, bigger sleeping bag, or a close friend, food, water, sport gear, dog ('Bob the Dog' will make an appearance), dog cookies, more firewood. Directions: I-15 north to Barstow Hwy 247 south for 15 mi. Turn right at mile marker 63.0 Follow road for about 1 mi. and bear left Continue on til you reach the crag

Sheep Pass Group Site #6 reserved for Friday and Saturday nights... Details to follow. Dec 1, 2009 Update: Alright gang, we're a week and a half away. Are you all excited yet? I am! Sheep Pass Group Site #6 is limited to 30 people and 8 cars. That rounds out to about 4 people per car. While it's possible to shuttle cars, it's also a pain so please try to arrange carpools. Saturday night, we'll do the usual pot-luck dinner, so participate if you like. Winter in JTree can be really cold. Extreme winds are almost guaranteed and snow isn't out of the realm of possibility. Come prepared. And please update your RSVP if you do NOT plan on going so we can allow some of the Waiting List folks to work their way onto the RSVP list. Thanks... ~Adam~ "The Master Beta" ===Big O Update=== We also have site #4 now! So we should have tons of room for everyone who wants to go. Please still try to coordinate carpools though as there is still a very limited number of parking spaces available to us even with the new site. Since it was so well received the last two years we will be doing the WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE again!!! The rules are simple. If you wish to participate all you need do is bring one wrapped gift of no more then $25 in value. It can be less but it cannot be more then $25. Can't wait to see what is offered up this year! -~<| Master Beta Update |>~- (Fri, Dec 11th) Here's the current forecast at 4,500' in the park... Tonight: A 20 percent chance of light rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. South southwest wind around 10 mph. Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. South southwest wind between 10 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Breezy, with a south southwest wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Breezy, with a west southwest wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Sunday Night: A 10 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy and breezy, with a low around 36. It's definitely going to be cold (but not quite cold enough to snow) so dress warm. Fortunately the winds don't look too crazy. I'll be bringing a crash pad to boulder if it's too cold to rope climb. Hope at least some of you are still willing to go. Saturday I'm thinking of checking out the Cathouse in the Lost Horse area which has lots of easy & moderate routes and should be somewhat sheltered from the wind. If it's ridiculously cold, we may head down to Indian Cove and try the Corral Wall.
